MRS. COOK BEATEN BY MISS NASH IN FINAL OF MANAWATU GOLF

PALMERSTON N., Oct. 5 (PA).— Establishing an early lead on her opponent and maintaining it throughout with a fine brand of golf, Miss Aileen Nash, of Palmerston North, won the Manawatu women’s open championship title 5 and 4 at Hokowhitu. Miss Nash met Mrs. R. C. Cook (Wanganui) in the final, which was played in a strong wind, and she was at home in all departments of the game. Her almost brilliant chipping, however. was chiefly responsible for her success. Mrs. Cook, on lhe other hand, had trouble with her shots to the green, and putting lapses at crucial stages cost her several holes. •ma.
