Mr Crosby Morris, of the firm of Stronach Morris, died at Dunedin yesterday at the age of 84 years. Mr Frank Gofton, whose death occurred suddenly at Torquay, was a well known Wellington resident. He served with the New Zealand forces in the First World War. The Rev. Arthur M. Ferguson, of Feilding, has received a call from the Matamata Presbyterian Church. The call has been sustained by the Waikato Presbytery. Mr. Tupara Maniapoto, a highranking member of the Tuwharetoa tribe, has died at Nykuhiu pa, Taupo, aged 76. He had a wide knowledge of the history of the tribe, and was an accomplished public speaker. He was well known to many Europeans, particularly anglers. Mr. L. H. Brough, for the past three years responsible for the administration of the railway workshops throughout the Dominion, has retired after 40 years’ service. The Minister of Railways (Mr. Goosman) has appointed Mr. W. G. M. Colquhoun to succeed him. Mr. John Dulanty, who has been High Commissioner in London for Eire since 1926 and who recently was promoted to the status of Ambassador, has retired and is to be succeeded as Ambassador by Mr. Frederick Boland, Secretary of the Eire Department of External Affairs. Appreciation of the work of Mr. G. Darbyshire, former Wanganui County clerk, who died last Weekend. was placed on record at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui County Council. The chairman, Cr. A. H. Collins, said that during his 30 years as county clerk, Mr. Darbyshire had given great service. He and Crs. T. Mitchell and L. A. Mackintosh and the county engineer, Mr. R. R. Dawson, expressed sympathy W’ith Mrs. Darbyshire.

The Bank of Australasia has announced the following appointments: Mr. Herbert Johnson, manager at Auckland, to be manager at Perth and inspector for the Western Australian branches; Mr. A. J. Tyson, manager at Christchurch, to be manager at Auckland; Mr. G. G. B. Dixon, manager at Wanganui, to be manager at Christchurch, and Mr. A. E. M. Kerr, manager at New Plymouth, to be manager at Wanganui.—(P.A.)
