IMPORT LICENCE CLOSING DATE FINDS OPPOSITION
WELLINGTON, Sept. 7 (PA).—The annual conference of the United Kingdom Manufacturers' and New Zealand Representatives’ Association decided unanimously that the alteration of the closing date for the import licensing year (formerly February 28 but now for the 1951 year to be December 31) was a most unpopular move because of the industrial arrangements in New Zealand and holidays falling at the end of the year. It was considered that the December 31 dateline would cause congestion on the wharves. The resolution will be forwarded to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce conference on the subject.
