DATES ANNOUNCED FOR TAUPO AND ROTORUA TROUT FISHING SEASONS
WELLINGTON, Sept. 2, (P.A.).— In the Taupo district, the trout fishing season will now, in respect of all rivers and streams entering Lake Taupo, and their tributaries, open on December 1 and close on May 31. In all other waters of the district, except Lake Roto Aira and the portion of the Poutu Stream between that lake and the Falls (which area is closed to fishing by Europeans), the season will open on November 1 and close on April 30, said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Bodkin, tonight. In the Rotorua district, the season, in respect of all rivers and streams flowing into the lakes, and their tributaries, but excepting the Ohau Channel, will open on December 1 and close on May 14. Other changes include: That in the Taupo district, where trolling in the lake within x'9o yards of the shore-line is at present prohibited, it is proposed to prohibit trolling only in certain specified portions, which will, in general, include all beaches and other wadeable places. These will be indicated by boundary posts.
