Marton Rehabilitation Committee Handles Many Loan Applications

Forty-one housing loan applications involving £50,045 were handled by the finance sub-committee durin; the past year, stated the chairman Mr. G. B. Gregory, at the annua meeting of the Marton Rehabilitate. Committee this week. This compare-. with 31 cases involving £41,904 for the previous 12 months, he said. Of the 41 cases handled during the past year, 24 applications were for the purchase of existing dwellings ant 17 for the erection of new homes. Mr Gregory stated that the sub-com-mittee had received all possible assistance from the rehabilitation officer at Palmerston North (Mr. G. G. Rae) who had proved most helpful as had members of his staff who had been contacted by the sub-committee. In a general review of rehabilitation progress, Mr. Rae said that the main rehabilitation problems in Marton were housing and farm settlement. Mr Rae thanked members for the local committee on behalf of the department and himself for freely and generously giving their time to rehabilitation matters. Those present at the meeting were messrs.
