The first shoot of a series was held on Tuesday night for the Johnston Shield. W. Alexander proved the winner with 99.6 off the rifle. Other scores were: J. Wilson 99.5, A. Alexander 99.5 A. Loveridge 96.4, W. Stewart 96.4, J. Lewis 90.2, K. How 87.2, D. Gulliver 94.1, R. Stewart 98.2, R Hawker 95.1, J. Middleton 98, J. Alexander 95.2, H. Wilson 96.5, R. Finlay 83.2, R. Milne 92.1, M. Stewart 91.2, E. Lupton 82.3, R. Alexander 88, J. Stinson 88. Other shooters were M. Jeffries, P. Bradley, A. Aiken, B. Jeffries, A. Sturrock, O. Bradley, and C Loveridge. Fire Brigade Euchre. There was a very good attendance at the Fire Brigade euchre party. The profits from the takings are to be given to the United Nations Appeal for Children. Winners were: Ladies, Mrs. McGorrey; men, Mr. G. A .Aiken I, Mr. G. Stewart 2. The competition was won by Mr. D. Clark. Ladies’ Golf Chib. The LGU medal round will be played on September 5. Parsons and Mrs P. Graves. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Brown have returned to Waverley after touring Australia for several weeks. After several months touring abroad including a visit to his people in Ireland, Mr. A. S. Anderson has returned to Waverley
