Rapanui
Mrs. Fyfe presided over the monthly meeting of the Rapanui Women’s Institute held in the hall on August 24. The motto for the day was “When you have decided what is right, don’t let all the tremendously great bogies in the world frighten you.” After the business, an enjoyable programme was presented, and included pianoforte duets by Mrs. Cooper and Miss Cooper, and useful household hints given by Mrs. Fyfe. Mrs. Sharpe, the delegate to the Dominion conference, gave her report, which was comprehensive and very interesting. Following afternoon tea, which was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Cooper and Gibbard, a demonstration on a floral bonbon was given by Mrs. Lind, and the finished article was greatly admired. It was announced that the annual district flower show would be held on the first Saturday in September. The competition for a Madiera cake was won by Mrs. Sharpe, Mrs. Burnet 2, Mrs Ross 3. Best bloom, Mrs. Cooper 1, Mrs. L. Russell 2, Miss Cooper 3.
