OFFERS OF U.S. FOOD TO OTHER NATIONS

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (Recd. 6 pm).—The Government today offered to sell 50,000,0001 b. of surplus butter at 15 cents, a lb. to member countries of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation. Other offers were: 25,000,0001 b. of cheese at 7.5 cents, 25,000,0001 b, of dried eggs at five cents, a lb. 100,000 lb. of dried skim milk, at prices ranging, up to 5 cents a lb. - All the surplus food was bought under the American farm price support programme, except Mexican canned meat, which was bought in a special effort to assist Mexico.
