Cruiser Australia Makes Dash To Antarctic To Pick Up Sick Doctor
SYDNEY, Aug. 6 (Rec. 7 pm).— The cruiser H.M.A.S. Australia reports that unless storms intervene she will pick up a sick doctor. Serge Udovikoff, from Heard Island by cutter tomorrow.
If a threatened cyclone develops she may have to wait outside Atlas Cove until it passes.
After her race to the sub-Antarc-tic fuel supplies will not allow her to remain there indefinitely. At noon yesterday the Australia was estimated to be one and a-half days' sailing time from the island. Th* temperature was five degrees above freezing and gale force winds were reported. Later messages say that the cruiser has reached Heard Island.
