Boxing Enthusiasts Promised Good Bout On Monday Night

Boxing patrons are promised a good bout in the Opera House on Monday night, when N. Stanford (Wanganui) meets Pat Mclvor (Hastings) i n a middleweight contest of 10 rounds. Stanford is the ex-middleweight champion and Mclvor the former middleweight champion of Hawke’s Bay in the amateur grade. They have now joined the professional ranks. As both are “go in” fighters a good bout over 10 rounds is assured. First-class amateur boxers from Marton, Taranaki and Wanganui will also take part. Officials who will conduct the contests are: Sole selector, Mr. T. Souter; secretary-treasurer, Mr. Gavin Gullery; assistant, Mr. Chas. Young; house manager, Mr. W. J. Carr; ringmaster, Mr. S. Beauchamp; ringside stewards, Messrs H. Ennis, L. Hutchby, R. Grant; glove stewards, Messrs R. Baldwin, R. Newport, and A. Thomas; official seconds, Messrs J. Turner and W. K. Brown; weight steward, Mr. V. J. Heenan; blackboard steward, Mr. S. G. Smith; medical steward, Mr. V. J. O'Brien; timekeepers, Messrs W. J. McKernan and L. Hooker; pass stewards, Messrs V. J. O’Brien, R. Grant, V. J. Heenan, L. Hutchby, T. Mullins, S. Beauchamp and the ushers; referees, Messrs E. Madden (Hawera), Clyde Thomas (Raetihi), A. Gray and Thos. Jackson; judges, Dr. H. K. Christie and Messrs H. H. Ennis, T. G. Mullins, A. J. Lenz (Hawera), J. Scarrow and Rev. Bell-Booth (Raetihi).
