ARGENTINE CHEERS CLAIMS TO BRITISH FALKLAND ISLANDS

BUENOS AIRES, July 20 (Rec. 7.40 pm).—The Argentine Chamber of Deputies today unanimously approved a motion reasserting Argentine sovereignty over the Britishheld Falkland Islands. Deputies attending the session stood up. sang the Natiorzl Anthem and cheered as the resolution was voted on.

The motion Stemmed from the proposal recently introduced in the British House of Commons asking that Britain protest to Argentina for refusing to recognise the franking powers of Falkland Islands postage stamps. The motion applauded President Peron for rejecting the Falklands postage stamps and defending Argentine rights to the islands.

“The Chamber categorically rejects the British Parliamentary proposal as an unfriendly act and directs the executive to take no notice of the projected British protest,” it added.
