STRONG COMPETITION AT MARTON SALE
The NZ Farmers’ Co-op Dist Co. reports on the Marton sale: — Quite a large yarding of all classes of sheep came forward to a large bench of buyers from the Manawatu, Wanganui and local districts. Competition on all lines was strong and the prices realised were fully up to recent sales. The specially advertised line of wether hoggets realised 46/and another line of forward shorn b.f. hoggets were knocked: down at 44/1. In the fat sheep section prices were slightly easier, this being mainly due to the fact that the quality was not quite as good as at recent sales. A small yarding of dairy stock met with a mixed demand. Springing Jersey heifers realised £l2, while good yearing Jersey heifers sold as high as £lO 5/-. A total clearance was effected. The following were the prices realised:— Wether hoggets 46/-, 44/- to 35/-; forward shorn b.f. hoggets 44/1; woolly b.f. hoggets 43/- to 45/-; fat 2th. b.f.’s 58/6; fat and: forward 2th. wethers 65/- to 63/6; fat ewes 50/- to 46/3;, springing heifers £l2; yearling Jersey heifers £lO/5/-, £lO to £7. MANGAWEKA SALE The New Zealand Farmers' Cc-cp. Distributing Co. Ltd. reports on the Mangaweka sale:— A small yarding of sheep came forward, comprising mainly in-lamb ewes and store hoggets. These met with a strong demand from quite a large bench of buyers. Several pens ■ f good quality fat wethers were offered and met with a poor demand and failed to reach the vendors’ reserve but were quitted later. A total clearance was effected. The following were the prices realised: M.A. ewes v.w.S.D.r. 48/6, 38/6 to 38/; medium 2th. ewes r.w.S.D.r. 50/-, fat 2th. b.f.’s 65/- to 55/-, fat 2th. wethers 67/-, small wether' hoggets 27/2
