Wanganui-Egmont Hunt Club WAVERLEY, Last Night (OC).— The hunt was held at Kakaramea last Saturday undei’ very bad weather conditions. There was, however, a very good muster of riders, who enjoyed many good runs and good jumps. This is the final hunt of the season. FOOTBALL. A team from St. Augustine’s, Wanganui, travelled to Waverley on Tuesday to play a match against the Waverley District High School. Waverley School won by 6 to nil. Two unconverted tries were scored by K. Sattler and C. Keene. Waverley players were G. Wood, R. Baird, F. Cunningham, B. Howie, C. Keene. R. Lynskey, J. Laird, T. Karipa, C. Travers, K. Sattler, G. Wah, R. Appleton and E. Hooper. SMALLBORE RIFLE CLUB. There was an average attendance at the club’s weekly shoot on Tuesday night. Scores off the rifle were as ollow:R. Stewart, 99.5; M. Decorations for the hall are well under way under the management of the committee. Vincent's Orchestra has been engaged so a populax- dance programme is assured. The R.S.A. ball is known as the popular ball of the season, so a good crowd may be expected for Friday night. A surprise party was given to farewell Miss D. Fairbrother on Monday evening, when members of the staff of the Waverley District High School and friends, gathered at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Fairbrother. An enjoyable evening of entertainment was arranged. Afteax those present had participated in a beautiful sunper Mr. N. Bromilev, on behalf of those present made Miss Fairbrother a presentation and wished her all the best in her new appointrnent. Miss brother suitably renlied and honed -t would not be long before she returned. Miss Fairbrother leaves on Tuesday to take up dental duties at Wellington, -in furthering her career. PERSONAL. Mr. and Mrs. D. O’Leary have recently returned to Waverley after an extended trip home to Ireland, lasting several months. Mrs. I- B. McLaughlan has returned to Greatford after visiting her mother, Mrs. J. Hodge. Miss N. Mathieson is visiting WeiMiss Tui Muir left last Friday on the Dominion Monarch to return to Scotland. Miss Muir, who has been in New Zealand for nearly a year, has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Mat x - son, and Mrs. Muir, of Waverley and Mrs. D. McKenzie, of Hawera. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The Women's Institute held their social and dance on Friday night in the Town Hall supper room. There was a very good attendance. The music was supplied by the Waverley Dance Band. The winners of the Monte Carlos were Miss N. Penny and H. Broadmore. and Miss N. Penny and B. Jeffries. The competition was won by Mrs. J. Stimson.
