Kapai Chief had an all-the-way win in the Handicap Point-to-point Steeplechase, establishing a clear lead in the first half-mile and eventually winning by half a furlong from Mediocre, with Mike three lengths away. Torquay ran off at 'the double but was taken back to negotiate the jump. However, he fell three fences from home. Old Joe and S't. Louis, who were the only ones who appeared likely in the middle stages to extend the pacemaker, both Game to grler. There were five defections from the field of eight carded for the Charles Simpson Memorial Steeplechase, but it was left to a late entrant, Mr P. Porter’s Warrior, to spring a surprise.
