ALL SAINTS’ MOTHERS’ UNION
At the June meeting of the Al) Saints’ Mothers’ Union the Rev. F. A. Keay conducted the service in the church. Members then assembled in the hall, the door hostesses being Mesdames Jull and Watson. The enrolling member, Mrs J. A Shanks, presided and welcomed all present. She expressed sympathy for sick members, to whom flowers were sent. Sister Helen Sewell, of Wellington, who is the organ’ser of the youth movement, was the guest speaker and Interested her listeners, many being the mothers of young children. She had on d well illustrated and suitable books which capture the interest of young and not-so-young children. In thanking the speaker for her helpful talk, Mrs Eric Anderson presented her with a floral spray. Mrs Shanks gave a report on the visit to Patea of members from all branches of Mothers’ Unions in the Waitotara arcltdeaconary, special mention being made of the address on “Displaced Persons’ Camp at Pahiatua” by Archdeacon J. R. Young. The packed church at Patea for the Holy Communion service, the large surpliced choir and banner bearers was most inspiring. There will be an admission service for new members at All Saints’ next month. A welcome cup of tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Miller, Robinson, Boyd, Wakely, Davey and Harris.
