Catchment Boards Not Afraid Of Investigation
CHRISTCHURCH, Yesterlay (PA>— Catchment boards knew all about the investigations being made by the Minister of Works (Mr Goosman) and were not afraid that the information gained would do anything but. rebound tn the credit, of the boards, said the chairman of the North Canterbury Catchment Board and immediate past president of the New Zealand Catchment. Boards’ Association (Mr W Machin). He was commenting this morning on the move taken by the Counties’ Association conference to have catchment boards abolished, and on the remark of Mr R. 11. White that the boards were “the spoilt children of a second delayed marriage.” "Mr White's remark is about as clear as his references Io catchment boards in the report of the Sheep Industry Commission, of which ho was chairman.” said Mr Machin. “The marriage took place nearly four years before there was any issue, so 1 cannot see how his remarks fit.”
