8TH. ARMY MEMORIAL WINDOW FOR CAIRO CATHEDRAL INSPECTED

LONDON, June 16 (Recd. Bpm). Progress on an Bth Army Memorial Window for the Cairo Cathedral has been inspected by Field-Marshal Montgomery, accompanied by General Sir Oliver Leese, who commanded the Bth Army in 1944, Sir James Steele and Sir Richard McCreery. Nearly all the 12,000 pieces of glass have now been cut and the top half of the window has been finished. This illustrates the figure of the Virgin Mary and of Christ, as a boy, holding in His hand a ship as a symbol of the church. In the lower part of the window, which is 13 feet hight and three feet wide, will be depicted the sign of the Bth Army. The cost of the window has been subscribed by members of the Bth Army and the window will be finished in time to be put on view at the El Alemain reunion in October. —Special N.Z.P.A, Correspondent.
