Wanganui Club Rugby Coaches To Discuss The New Scrummage
All club coaches will be invited to attend a discussion on the new interpretation of the scrummage rule and the packing of the scrum. This is to be held at Spriggens Park next Sunday morning. This was decided at last night's meeting of the management committee of the Wanganui Rugby Union following a letter from the Marist Club. The letter asked that the union's coach and selector (Mr S. Ambrose) discuss the new scrum with coaches. Mr Ambrose thought this matter [should have been discussed earlier, but there was still time to do it. He suggested that coaches attend at Spriggens Park next Sunday, when a representative practice would be held. The practice would begin at 9 a.m., and he suggested the coaches come to the ground before then to discuss the scrummage theory and they could later see the scrum in action. Mr. Ambrose is to invite a representative of the Referees' Association to advise coaches as to the rules.
