Mr. A. W. Hudson, of Palmerston North, has notified the Wanganui Education Board of his acceptance of the position of board representative on the Board of Governors of Palmerston North High Schools.

Mr. J. G. Forbes, of Queenstown, has been appointed by the Education Department to the inspectors’ staff of the Wanganui Education Board. Mr Forbes will be released from his position with the Southland Education Board on June 2. Mr. H. C. Jenkins has been appointed a city member of the Wan-ganui-Rangitikei Power Board, He will fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. B. R. Dobbs. The appointment was made by the Wanganui City Council at its monthly meeting last night. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the board previously.

Mr. D. Valentine has been apppointed manager of the Wanganui Rugby representative team to play Rangltikei at Spriggens Park next Saturday. Manager of the Wanganui team to play Taihape is Mr. B. Clapham. The appointments were made at last night’s meeting of the management committee of the Wanganui Rugby Union. Sir Michael Myers, retired Chief Justice of New Zealand, who died recently, was referred to by the chairman of the Royal Commission on vested Maori lands, Judge Dalglish, when the commission opened its sittings in Wanganui yesterday. His Honour said that Sir Michael had sat on other Royal commissions dealing with Maori affairs and was the original chairman of the present commission. He 'precided over a preliminary meeting in December and later toured the district and inspected most of the lands concerned. He had a good knowledge of the various problems and New Zealand had suffered a loss in his death.
