Winter Sunday Concerts To Open In Opera House On Sunday Afternoon
The first Sunday afternoon concert for the coming winter season will be held in the Opera H<>use tomorrow afternoon, when a programme will be presented by pupils of the Wanganui Girls’ College. The afternoon concerts proved a success last winter when they were inaugurated by Wanganui City, Council’s Opera House Committee as-i sisted by city musicians. * The programme for tomorrow is as follows: Junior Choir, “To a Wild Rose” (Macdowell), “The Wish’’ (Chopin), "England’’ (Parry); vocal solo, “Swallows” (Cowan), “Estrellita” (Ponce), Pamela Richardson; vocal duet, “Nocturne’’ (Danza), “The Prayer Perfect’’ (Stenson), Pamela Richardson and Yvonne Puryer; pianoforte solo, “Valse in E Minor” (Chopin), Gigup” (Graun), Beverley Brittain; Maori Glee Club, “Pa Mai,” “Pokarekare Ana,” “Me He Manu Ke Rere,” “Pol Ala Rd”; pianoforte duet, “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2” (Liszt), Janice Haggle and Joan Shardlow; ladies’ vocal sextette, “The Miller's Daughter” (Brahms), •‘Marie” (Franz), “Skye Boat Song” (Macleod), “The Yellow Bnreen” (arr. Forsyth); Senior Choir, “Sengs My Mother Taught Me” (Dvorak), "Nymphs and Shepherds” (Arne), “Pilgrim Song” (Dunhill); vocal solo, “All Joy Be Thine’ (Sanderson >, ‘April Is a Lady” (Phillips), Beverley Rosser; vocal duet, “I Would That My Boundless Love” (Mendelssohn), “Grey Days” (Johnson), Beverley Rosser and Anne Manley; Special Choir, “Butterfly” (Schumann), "Fly, Singing Bird, Fly” <Elgar), violin obligato, Mrs J.
