Mr. J. M. Barclay, New Zealand High Commissioner in Australia, who has completed his term, left for New Zealand by the Monowai yesterday afternoon. i Mr. A. W. Gilberd, of Wanganui, has been admitted to the New Zealand Society of Accountants with the st a.’"" of Associate Registered Accountant (A.R.A.N.Z.). Mr. P. A. Radomski, of Taihape, has been granted a transfer of status in the New Zealand Society of Accountants to Associate Public Accountant (A.P.A.N.Z.). Mr. Colin Horsley, the brilliant Wanganui pianist, is at. present touring Australia prior to opening his concert tour of New Zealand on June 7. He is now recognised as one of Britain’s leading younger pianists and broadcasts regularly over the 8.8. C. and has recorded numerous works. His New Zealand tour will be completed in time to enable him to return to England to play at the promenade concerts at the Albert Hall in August. Dr. J. M. Wogan, of Wellington, lias been appointed by the Public Service Commission as director of the division of tuberculosis, Department of Health, it was announced yesterday by the Minister of Health, Mr. Watts. In 1948 Mr. Wogan was appointed parttime medical officer to the division of tuberculosis to investigate the incidence of tuberculosis in nurses in New Zealand general hospitals. His reports had been of great value, said the Minister. Mr. Patrick James Barry, who died al Cheltenham recently, was widely known in the hotel business and a keen supporter of Rugby. Born at Blenheim 67 years ago he spent his youth at Masterton, Carterton, Auckland and Napier. Prominent on the Rugby field he represented Wairarapa for four years and Hawke’s Bay for a similar period, and in 1911 was a member of the North Island team. He first entered the hotel business al Makuri and afterwards was a licensee at Mart inborough, Marton, Opunake, Levin, Palmerston North, Hunlerville, Foxton and Cheltenham.
