ALLEGED EXPOSURE OF SECRET DEAL BY BRITAIN AND U.S.A.

NEW YORK, April 25 (Recd. 7.20 p.m.)—The Communist newspaper, “Daily Worker,” today published an alleged exposure of a great secret financial deal between Britain and America which will lead to American control of copper and uranium mines in Tanganyika and the Belgian Congo. The “Daily Worker” said the Bank of England, on behalf of the British Government, was negotiating a deal with American financial interests which would establish immediate and direct tlnited States participation in the copper mines of Tanganyika and the uranium mines oif the Belgian Congo. “The deal now being privately negotiated is due* to be completed by April 30 and a public announcement may be made on May 1.” The “Daily Worker,” without giving the source of its information, published more than two columns of details of the alleged negotiations and added that in recent weeks the London Stock Exchange apparently scented the deal because there had been considerable “knowledgeable” buying of Tanganyika concessions and shares.
