AUTHORITIES ERECT WIRE FENCE BETWEEN HONGKONG AND CHINA
HONGKONG, April 26 (Reed. 11.20 pm). The Hongkong Government has begun the erection of a JOft. wire mesh fence along the 17-mile frontier with China. Although officials are reticent It Is understood this is the latest, move to control the enormous influx of Chinese into the colony and has no military or political significance. Excess of arrivals over departures recently climbed Io 20,000 a week, and the authorities are alarmed about the problems which the inflow is creating. Router.
