New Revolt Against Central Indonesia

JACARTA, April 26 (Recd 11.50 pm). A new revolt against the Central Indonesian Government was reported today from the island of Ambon, where separatists proclaimed the independent State of South Moluccas. Reliable sources said Dr. Soumokil, until recently Attorney-General in the capital of East Indonesia, inspired the separation because he was dissatisfied with the policy of the Haifa Government in Jacarta. The South Moluccas is a group of islands east of Celebes which formed a province within the Slate of East T ndonesia. Dr. Soumokil disappeared from Maccassar a few days before the rebel leader. Captain Abdul Azis, was arrested in Jacarta and Federal troops landed in Celebes. It was claimed that he flew 1o Ambon in a Dutch Army bomber. A Dutch Ai my spokesman said there were beween 100(1 and 1500 Indonesians of the Dutch East Indies army in Ambon. “We have reports that these troops are supporting the independence movement,” he said.
