N.S.W. LABOUR PLANS TO LIFT BAN ON PRESS AND RADIO COMMENT

SYDNEY, April 2G (Recd. 8.15 pjn?). —The State Parliamentary Labour caucus today decided to introduce legislation to lift the 70-hour ban on press and radio comment before Slate elections. A Bill will be brought down immediately amending the Stale Electoral Act to abolish the ban. The Bill will also make it clear that Ine restriction on lhe exhibiting of nosteis and how-to-vote cards during the 70hour period will no longer apply. The ban on press and radio comment was enacted last year and, according to many observers, reacted adversely on the Labour Government candidates at bv-elections.
