Herries Memorial At Tauranga May Find The Gent In Favour

AUCKLAND, Last Night (Special). —Fields for the concluding day of the Bay of Plenty Racing Club's fixture at Tauranga tomorrow are of maximum dimensions. The race for two-year-olds is to be run in divisions, and in six other events horses have been balloted out with the right of reentry. The going should be even better than last week. The double will be on the Herries Memorial, run over a mile, and the Railway Handicap, the open sprint. The Herries Memorial snould be an interesting race, for not only has it drawn such a large field but there is a long straight run-out from the mile barrier. The Gent seemed a bit unlucky the first day and perhaps he will make amends here. He will have to overcome the opposition of the improving Balcombe, Contango, Beaute and Lady Be True, to name only a few of the possibilities. Level Best should be hard to beat again in the sprint, the second race of the double, for she has a furlong less to travel this time. Taiwa won well at Rotorua and other prospects are Beau Reve and Te Tui. Horses likely to go well tomorrow are:— Kaimai Hurdles.—Peerage', Brer Reynard, Happy Fox. Wairoa Maiden.—Valeana, Theatre Lane, Trillium. Motiti Handicap.—First division: Cimba, Frandore. Second division: Installation, Petition. Herries Memorial Handicap.—The Gent, Balcombe, Lady Be True.
