Mr J. H. Moon (Auckland) lias been elected president of the New Zealand Carriers’ Federation for his third successive term. Mr. H. E. Schofield, of Matamata, has been elected president of the associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand. Mr. G. G. Burgess, of Wanganui, has been elected by the Associated Chambers of Commerce as one of the Wan-ganui-Taranaki zone representative on the executive. The appointment of Dr. E. G. Sayers, M. 8., Ch.B., as a member of the Medical Council under ’the Medical Practitioners’ Act, 1914, was Gazetted last night. Mr. W. R. Regg has been appointed acting registrar of births, deaths, and marriages at Taihape, and actingregistrar for Maori births and deaths, according to a notice in the Gazette.— O.C. The Rev. Brother Hippolyte, one of the best known Marist Brothers in New Zealand, has died in Auckland after a brief illness. Born in AlsaceLorraine, he came to New Zealand and took up duties at Sacred Heart College, staying there 41 years. He was master of discipline at the college and retired in 1946 to St. Peter's Maori College, Nothcote. Mr. H. M. Keesing, who died earlier in the year, is referred to In tne an nunl report of the Wanganui Collegiate School Old Boys' Association. “It is with very deep regret that we record the death of Mr. H. M. Keesing. Henry Keesing was a vice-president of the association from 1942. He was a member of the executiye from 1926 to 1930 and from 1936 until 1942. During his long term of office he took the keenest interest In the affairs of the association and the school. The history of the Old Boys' Association In the School Register was prepared by him, and he contributed very largely to the scheme for the debenture issue. He will be sadly missed," states the report.
