ITEMS FROM WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL
Permission for the Wanganui Amateur Swimming Club to hold the annual bridge-to-bridge swimming race on Saturday, February 25 was granted, with permission to conduct a collection along the riverbank. The club was granted permission to use the municipal baths in the morning and evening of the same day for the annual triangular v water polo tournament between Taranaki, Waikato and Wanganui.
The Wanganui Free Kindergarten Association’s request for the council to make available a site on St. John’s Hill for the erection of a free Kindergarten room was referred to the Reserves Committee.
The National Art Gallery advised that as it was inconvenient for the Sarjeant Gallery to have the set of reproductions representing the French School of Painting at the beginning of February, the exhibition would be forwarded at. some time in the future. The director of the Auckland Art Gallery advised that Wanganui had been allotted February 5 io June 26 for the loan exhibition of lithographs If these dates were inconvenient, th? only course was for Wanganui to decline the exhibition. The letter was referred to the Sarjeant Gallery Committee for consideration.
The Wanganui Old Folks’ Association is to be advised that t’f' council will welcome a deputation to enable the association to press its claim for the remission of its rates.
Compliments on the condition of the Aramoho Park and Castlecliff motor camps were received from Mrs. D. M. Marsden, of Paranaraurnu, and Mr. P. C. Robert, of Palmerston North.
