Girl Of 16 Breaks Australian 880 Yards Freestyle Swim Record
SYDNEY. Dec. 15 <Recd. 11pm >.— A 16-year-old school girl, Denise Norton of Adelaide, tonight broke the Australia 880yds. free-style record by 15.8 seconds. Miss Norton, who was participating in the Australian swimming championships at the North Sydney pool, .von by nearly 10 yards from Judy T ov Davies (Victoria), with Janet iohnston (Newcastle) third. The inner’s time was llmin. 29.8 sec. The revious record was llmin. 45.65ec., ‘established by Denise Spencer Queensland) last year.
