Increase In Imports Of Materials
WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).— The United Kingdom Manufacturers and New Zealand Representatives’ Association today issued a statement tommenting on the announcement by the Comptroller of Customs of the change in import allocations of cotton, silk and woollen piece goods from 100 per cent, of 1948 to 100 per cent, of 1949. The statement said that until the 1949 figures were available it was difficult to assess the position, but the change should amount to a considerable increase. It was assumed that increases in price and freight at least would be offset by the amendment.
