Increased Tram And Bus Fares Sought By Auckland Board
AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.)— An application by the Auckland Transport Board to increase the cash fares on all its trams and most of its buses by one penny a ride was heard by the Transport Charges Committee today. The committee, after receiving submissions for and against the proposal, reserved its decision, but this is likely to be made known before Christmas.
The application was made on the grounds that the board was faced with a loss of £80,671 on the current year’s operations, and that its present outgoings were about £l5OO a week more than its income.
