WOMEN’S DIVISION

Waitotara Branch The monthly meeting of the Waitotara branch of the W.D.F.F. was held on November 24. Eleven members were present, with Mrs. Gower James in the chair. Business centred largely about future means of raising funds for the Residential Nursery Baby Carnival. The day’s competitions resulted:— Bowl of flowers, Mrs. G. James 1, Mrs. K. Handley 2, Mrs. W. Crawshaw 3. Shortbread, Mrs. K. Handley 1. Mrs. G. James 2, Mrs. R. Forsyth 3. Bloom, rose, Mrs. W. Crawshaw 1. Mesdames James and Thynne served an enjoyable afternoon tea. On December 1, the division sponsored a most successful children s party in aid of the candidate in the carnival, baby Forsyth. The young guests in their fancy costujnes made a pleasing picture. All thoroughly enjoyed the usual delights of such functions. bran tub dips, musical games, dances, ice creams and a colourful supper of jelly and iced cakes. Miss Vaughan O’Connor contributed two delightful items, an action song, and a peasant dance.
