BLIZZARDS TAKE TOLL OF LIFE IN UNITED STATES

NEW YORK, Dec. 11 (Recd. 8 p.m.) —A blizzard killed at least 18 persons today as it swept snow and bitter cold into the Great Plain States and raised tornadoes in Arkansas and Missouri. Two were killed and 12 injured when a tornado demolished 17 buildings at Providence, Arkansas. Two were killed and 10 injured when houses collapsed at Sliger, Missouri. A man aged 98 was found frozen to death near Miles City, Montana. Others were killed in accidents on icy roads. Lewistown, Montana, reported a temperature 24 degrees below zero. Ten inches of snow fell at Livingston, Montana. Virtually all planes were grounded in North Dakota and many buses cancelled scheduled runs.
