MARTON BOWLERS DEFEATED BY OROUA.

Four rinks from the Oroua (Feilding) Bowling Club visited Marton on Saturday and defeated the local teams by six points. The aggregate was’ Marton 81, Oroua 87. The following were the 'results, Marton players being mentioned first: Adams, Gray, Charlton, Barton 15, lost to Hurley, Mitchell, Hurley, Roberts 23; Baines, B. Clark, Stratford, McDonald 23, drew with Groom, Smithers, Law, Cuming 23; Hunt, Higginson, J. McDonald, Denbow 24, beat de la Cour, Walker, Edelston, Andrews 16: Black, McConachie, Williams, Chapman 19, lost to Hewson, Raven, Stanton, Jarrett 25.

PONY CLUB CAMP AT MARTON NEXT MONTH. Arrangements for a four-day camp to be held on the Marton Racecourse from Monday, January 9 to Friday, January 13, were made at a recent committee meeting of the Rangitikei Pony Club held at Hunterville. It is anticipated that children will be present from all ten branches of the club which extends from Taihape to Bulls The following personnel in charge of the camp were appointed: Camp commandant, Mr. W. R. Duncan; camp mother, Mrs. L. Lambert; camp father, Mr. B. R. Simpson. These, together with the other helpers, will be responsible for the general organisation of the camp. The branch instructors will also be in residence and the children will be in their charge. A full programme of riding instruction and general horsemanship, interspersed with games and team events, is being organised. The resignations of two branch instructors—Mrs. J. Illston (Mangao-noho-Ohlngaiti branch) and Miss J. Hammond (Rata-Hunterville branch) —came before the meeting. The chairman, Mr. K. McK. Duncan, spoke in appreciative terms of the good work these two instructors had done for their branches and expressed the hope that they would continue to take an interest in the club s activities. A report on the annual head instructors’ meeting held in Palmerston North was given ny Mr. B. Simpson while Mr. W. R. Duncan presented a report on the annual meeting of the New Zealand Pony Club’s Association | which he attended as a delegate.
