Wanganui Girls’ Marching Association Holds Annual Meeting

“Wanganui teams affiliated with the New Zealand Girls’ Marching Association are entitled to compete in competitions in any part of New Zealand,” said the Dominion secretary (Mr. K. W. Kilpatrick) at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Girls’ Marching Association last night. Mr. Kilpatrick explained that the New Zealand Association comprised 19 centres, which in turn were made up of a total of 80 associations. So great was the activity of the associa? tion, he said, that it was becoming increasingly difficult to organise fixtures without a certain amount of, overlapping. The president (Mr. D. A. Almond) presided, and there was a large attendance. The acting Dominion chief judge; (Mr. L. T. Brown), explained the standard march plan for the current season and with the aid of the Rangers team demonstrated it to the meeting. On behalf of the association Mr. Almond thanked Mr. Brown and Mr. Kilpatrick for attending the meeting. He said there was a possibility of several new teams being formed in the near future. A meeting of the Wanganui Association would be held in Marton shortly to plan the formation of an additional association. The following officers wore elected: Patron, Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P.; president, Mr. D. A. Almond; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames N. J. McFarland, A. H. McLean, and F. D. Deacon, and Messrs. C. L. Lovegrove, E. Healey, C. A. Moosman, E. A. Lewis, D. H. R.
