A two-piece for evening, also designed completely in wool, will also attract attention. It is interesting to note here that Qlteen Mary i who attends regularly the displays of I the International Wool Secretariat in ; London, had seen the wedding gown and said it was one of the nicest she had ever seen. Together with the Wool Board’s display will be wool fabrics loaned by business firms. . Senior members of the W.D.F.F. will have charge of a sitting room at the show in which all the data of the housekeeping scheme, rest homes, records of the Sheep Industry Commission, and all W-D. literature, household guides etc. will be found. Presidents of branches and their | helpers will be in charge of the W.D. bays. The idea came from a member of I the Whangaehu branch, Mrs. New- | berry, who suggested it, and from the idea has grown the large display. Mrs. D. R. Jackson, Waverley, provincial president, is chairman and Mrs. O. B. Hawken, Whangaehu branch president, is deputy chairman. Both have been in town, the former accompanied by Mrs. T. D. Stewart, of Waverley, making the necessary arrangements for the displays. To help finance the venture and other worthy causes of the division, a raffle, consented to by the Department of Internal Affairs, will be held. Mrs. J. M. J. Hartwell and Mrs. R. V. Brown, the two secretaries have charge of this. Preparations for judging the needlework and handcraft sections of the Wanganui A. and P. Show were well under way yesterday, when Mrs K. Prowse and her assistants were busy sorting out the numerous entries in their various classes ready for the work of the judges. Added interest will be given to the display this year as there are 200 more entries than last year. Among the packages being unpacked yesterday were a quantity of soft toys, all kinds of needlework, tapestry wool work, beautiful crocheted articles, rugs, quilts, knitting, pine needle and other handhandcrafts. Work sent in by children is of a particularly high standard. Entries for the men’s needlework class have also been received.
