MR. W. MEADS ELECTED TO THE MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

MARTON, Last Night (OC).—The Marton Borough Council by-election held in Marton today, caused by the resignation of Mr. A. S. Todd, resulted in Mr. W. Meads securing a clear-cut win over the four other candidates. He secured a majority of 160 votes over the second candidate, Mr. A. R. Charlton. The poll was a small one, only about 29 per cent, of electors casting their votes. However, more voted at this by-election than 16 months ago. The total number of votes cast was 701, including'lo declarationn votes yet to be counted. The result of the poll was as follows:
