Tennis Dance TURAKINA, Nov. 6 (OC).—There was a large attendance at the Tennis Club’s dance on Friday evening. Music was supplied by Marks’ orchestra, while the serving of a dainty supper was in the capable hands of lady members of the club. Mr. J. Waitere acted as M.C. Included in the programme were a number of prize dances, winners being: Monte Carlo, Miss F. Patching and W. Twigg; Lucky Gay Gordons, Miss J. Major and P. Upchurch; Lucky Spot Fox Trot, Miss I. Major and R. Banks. Winners of competitions run in conjunction with the dance were J Moorey, J. Bell, L. Karatane, and R. Fergusson. TENNIS SEASON OPENED The Tennis Club was favoured with a beautifully fine day on Saturday, October 29, for the opening of the 1949-50 season. Mrs. P. O’Neil, patron of the club, declared the season open and wished the club a successful season. Winners of the Yankee tournament were Miss W. Goodall and J. Waitere, runners-up being Miss J. Major and W. Flyger. A dainty afternoon tea was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Clouston.
