THE SQUEAL AND THE ITCH’ Mr. Hackett, P.M.G., says that every time we buy a singlet, some of Sid Hollands friends help us to pay for it. That is why they (the friends) are squealing. That’s nothing! Every time we have to fork out the price of a singlet we get a horrible itch to do something about ft, too. It isn’t a squeal with us, so much as an itch! A case of hitching our ditching to an itch! IT’S A SMALL WORLD! Not long ago, a Welshman, moving to New Zealand with his family reported that the only way he could get prompt delivery of a British made motor car was to order it for direct shipment to Auckland. He would probably have had to wait months for delivery, had he remained in Wales. Comes a report that swedes in Stockholm have had to wait thiee weeks to get. shirts laundered. To overcome this delay, they are having their dirty shirts flown by Scandinavian Airlines to a hotel in New York City, where they are promptly washed and ironed and shipped back by air. The total time of sending the dirty shirts and getting them back, washed, starched and ironed is only three days. Now Americans, who have to wait from a week to two weeks to got shirts laundered are talking about having their dirty shirts flown to Stockholm, added to the Swedish wash, flown to the New York hotel, laundered, flown back to Stockholm, then flown to the United States. They figure the total time this service would take would be five days—a considerable saving.
