Christians’ Attitude To War
LONDON, Nov. 4.—The Archbishop of York, Dr. Cyril Garbett, today gave Christians throe rules in defining their attitude to war: They must do all they can to avoid war; they must make it plain that if all peaceful methods fail they will be ready to resist by force intolerable aggression and injustice and if war is forced upon them they may bear arms with a good conscience in defence of their country and international justice. Dr. Garbett was dedicating the memorial chapel of the Border Regiment in Carlisle Cathedral.
