Marton Junction Women's Institute Meeting

A decision to arrange for a display of painting and handwork exhibits at the Marton A. and P. Show next January was made at the monthly meeting of the Marton Junction Women's Institute held on Wednesday. To finalise details of this exhibition a special sub-committee will be formed at the next Institute meeting.

Birthday sprays were made and presented by Mrs. Lewis. Mrs. Watts kindly offered to attend the Awahuri birthday and convey greetings from the Marton Junction Institute.

It was reported that Mr. Scott had kindly offered to judge the flowers and vegetables at the Institute Flower Show to be held next Wednesday. Mrs. Lewis gave a good report on her visit to Feilding as a delegate to the Dominion Council meeting. Good reports were also presented by both the Garden and Sunshine Circles. Mrs. Matthews kindly donated three tins of dripping for the food parcel to be sent to the Institute's link in Yorkshire.

Mrs. Head jnr. sang two delightful solos, after which the Drama Circle staged two tableaux of New Zealand, past and present, those taking part being Mesdames Fraser, Head, Workman and Beemsly.

Competition - results were:—Best bloom, Mrs. Sicely 1, Mrs. Moss 2, Mrs Slight 3. Ginger nuts, Mrs. Black 1, Mrs. Downs 2. Toy (knitted), Mrs. Gabites 1.

There was also a Maori antique display and each member gave a short talk on the origin of the various articles.
