Ellerslie Inquiries
AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.) After the running of the Cambria Handicap at Ellerslie yesterday Mr. L. Haworth, owner of Personage, who finished second in the second division, entered a protest against the winner, Correspond, on the grounds of interference. After hearing the evidence the judicial committee decided that the judge’s placings should stand. The stewards held an inquiry after the same event into possible interference by Personage with the third horse, The Unicorn. It was decided that no action be taken.
Following the running of the Mel'rose Hack Handicap, J. C. Bagby, I rider of the Nionyx, was questioned regarding his handling of the horse. His explanation that he had been instructed to ride the horse in behind and that he had received a bad run Horn the half-mile was accepted.
