Property In Helmore St. To Become Playing Area For The Girls’ College
A property in Helmore Street, Wanganui East, is to be a playing area for the Wanganui Girls’ College, and the Board of Governors, at its meeting yesterday, decided to ask that the title be vested in the board instead of in the Crown. This was decided after members had discussed letters from the department regarding the Helmore Street property and Duncan Estate, as additional playing areas for the college. The department has obtained the Helmore Street property for the college, but the title will be vested in the Crown. While appreciating this action the board is of opinion that it should have the title itself. The property was originally intended as a site for pensioners’ flat:. Regarding the Duncan Estate, the department will ask the Ministry of Works if it will make that area, or part of it, available to the college.
