RANGITIKEI HAS UNBEATEN RECORD AGAINST MANAWATU. Rangitikei began the representative hockey season on an auspicious note on Saturday afternoon, when all four women’s teams emerged victorious over Manawatu combinations. In the big match of the day the Rangitikei A team ran up a doublefigure score against Manawatu A. Rangitikei owed their victory to a superior forward line in which B. Iwikau (centre-forward), and J. Paterson (right wing) carved holes in the opposition’s defence. J. Judd (centre half) was also outstanding. Rangitikei teams scored 23 goals in the four matches and only one goal was scored against them—a rather remarkable record. However, Manawatu is not a strong centre for women's hockey and a better indication of Rangitikei’s strength will be obtained next week when Taranaki play Rangitikei at Marton. Saturday’s results were:— Senior A division: Rangitikei A 11, Manawatu A 0; Rangitikei B 6, Manawatu B 0. Senior B division: Rangi> tikei A 4, Manawatu C 1; Rangitikei B 2. Manawatu D 0.
