UTIKU OLD BOYS AND HUIA PLAY DRAWN GAME IN TAIHAPE RUGBY

1 TAIHAPE, Last Night (OC).—The Taihape senior Rugby competition was continued on Saturday, when Huia and Utiku Old Boys played a drawn game, 11 all. For Huia tries were scored by Clark, Hakopa and Phillips, one try being converted by D. McCarthy. Logan, R. Brejnner and Steddman scored tries for Utiku Old Boys, one of which was converted by W. Henry. Huia led by 11-0 at half time, but Old Boys had much the better of the second spell, attacking strongly during the last 10 minutes. Mangaweka defaulted to Pirates. Other matches resulted: Junior: Pirates 15, Utiku Old Boys 0; Navy 21, Huia 3. Third grade: Pirates 21, Huia 5; I Utiku Old Boys 14, High School 5. CASCADE CUP. I In a match of the Cascade Cup series played at Taihape today, Taihape Railway refeated Wanganui Railway 16-3. JUNIOR TEAM SELECTED. BOUNDARYDISPUTE Two Mangaweka Farmers Neighbours for the past 13 years, two Mangaweka farmers figured in a case heard at the Taihape Magistrate’s Court on Thursday involving a dispute over the boundary between their two properties They were William Brown, plaintiff, who claimed £36 9s 6d from G. H. McDonald, defendant. Plaintiff was represented by Mr. R. C. Ongley and the defendant by Mr. A. C. O’Connor. Outlining the circumstances connected with the case, Mr. Ongley said that the farm properties of plaintiff and defendant at Mangaweka adjoined each other, and as the result of a survey, Brown found that the fence line encroached on his property from Bft. to 10ft. on section 7, and 12ft. on the other side. It was agreed that a fence be erected, defandant to pay half the cost, amounting to £l6 17s 6d. Defendant had paid £l3 10s into court to cover his share of the cost of erection of the fence, but plaintiff refused to accept this as full settlement As a result of the boundary being incorrect defendant had used a strip of land belonging to pldintiff, who was claiming Is 6d a month for 13 years for the use of the said strip STATEMENT OF CLAIM. Plaintiff’s claim, £36 9s 6d, was made up as follows: (a) £l6 17s 6d being half the cost of erection of boundary fences between plaintiff’s land : and defendant’s land at Mangaweka, , erected by plaintiff; (b) £ll 14s for i use of 12ft drive, being part of sections II and 12, for 13s years at Is 6d a month; (c) £3 15s being the cost of filling in and sowing down 12ft drive; (d) 14s, being the cost of removing defendant’s chattels from and clearing up section 7, block VII, township of • Mangaweka. fours hours at 3s 6d an hour; (e) £3 9s, being value of wire 1 wrongly removed by defendant from the old fence on section 7 (90ft. of fowl netting, £1 6s; 861 ft. of sheep netting, £2 3s). After hearing the evidence of plaintiff and defendant and witnesses, the magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff for £2O (costs £8 4s).

RAETIHI NEWS Breach Of Licensing Act Charged with selling liquor in a proclaimed area, Edwin David Hackett appeared before Mr A. Coleman, S.M., at the monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court. Hackett pleaded guilty and was fined £2 with 10s costs. DISTRIBUTION OF SUNDAY PICTURE PROCEEDS. There was only £7O available for allocation from the Sunday picture fund for the year ended March 31, and the beneficiaries from the disbursement were: Wanganui Health Camp £2O, Raetihi Plunket Society £2O, Crippled Children’s fund £lO, Rae-, tihi Boy Scouts £lO, and Raetihi Girl ' Guides £lO.
