Red Cross Seeking Boots, Shoes, and Gum Boots For Children

"We need boots shoes, gumboots suitable for children pf both sexes and all ages as well as for adults," an officer of the Red Cross told the “Chronicle’ yesterday. "The more we get the happier we will be. There is an urgent need for them at the Pahiatua receiving camp to tide people over till they are able to settle in jobs and earn the wherewithal for their own. A couple of weeks ago Mr M. S. Galloway, secretary-general of the Red Cross in New Zealand, visited the camp to see what comforts were needed. He found that under winter conditions by far the most important thing at present Is a supply of footwear. “He has appealed Io Red Cross centres for assistance and we are passing this appeal on to Wanganui district. Anyone who can help is asked to leave footwear at the Red Cross depots or address them to the secretary by post. If any surplus comes in I hey will be passed on to the British Red Cross lor distribution amongst those in need in the United Kingdom and Europe.”
