Wanganui Committee Endorses Mr. Cotterill As Labour Candidate
Mr. J. B. F. Cotterill, M.P., was unanimously endorsed as the Labour Party candidate for the Wanganui electorate at the forthcoming general elections, by the Wanganui Labour Representation Committee at its monthly meeting last night. Mr. Cotterill has represented the Wanganui constituency since 1935. \uheji he defeated the sitting member. Mr. W. A. Veitch (United Party). He retained his seat in 1938 when he was opposed by Mr. H. C. Veitch (National). In 1943 he was successful ‘against Mr. E. J. Kirk (National). Mr. R. O. C Marks (Real Democracy Movement), and Mr. S. F. Duffy (De- ; mocratic Labour). Ho defeated Mr. E. I W. Merewether (National) in the 1946 elections.
