WATERSIDERS NOW HAVE MEMBER ON HARBOUR BOARD
Appointed by the Government under its policy of giving the waterside workers’ unions representation or. harbour boards, Mr. J. Bergen was welcomed by the chairman, Mr. E. A. Millward, at yesterday's meeting oi the Wanganui Harbour Board.
In extending his welcome, Mr. Millward said that members of the board knew his views on the method of appointment decided on by the Government. Nevertheless, he’was sincere m his welcome and considered that Mr. Bergin's experience on the waterfront would be of assistance to the board. Actually the waterside workers in Wanganui have two members on the board, for their secretary, Mr. W. F. Cummings, is* the representative or the Government on th e board.
