VISITING RUGBY TEAM KICKED HARD AND OFTEN

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— The Australian Universities Rugby team which will complete its tour of New Zealand with a match against Auckland University at Eden Park tomorrow, has been kicked hard and often during the tour, according to the manager, Dr. R. Mackey, tonight. It had found that the best solution to kicking was to kick back harder and more often.

The. New Zealand University pack in the Third Test at Eden Park last Saturday, could not have played any harder. Dr. Mackey said it was composed of experienced players, including representatives and Ail Black trialists. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the Australian players got the better of it and the reason they did so was because they gave as good as they got. As a result of the strenuous but enjoyable tour, R. Tooth and V. Carroll were still in the injured list. Dr. Mackey said, however, that the injury suffered by the captain, N. Emery, last Saturday, had cleared and he would lead the team in the match tomorrow. Australian University Rugby was making much progress. Five forwards and four backs of the touring team were worthy of inclusion in the Wallaby teams to meet the Maoris in the second and third tests. They were D. Brockhoff, R. Taylor, P. Carter, E. Masters and C. Erickson ir the forwards, and Emery, K. Walsh. J. Solomon, and Wileman in the backs.
