Foreign Consulates In Shanghai Are Still Functioning
SANGHAI, May 31, (Recd 8 pm).— No other foreign Consulates are con--1 templating following the action of the Soviet in closing down. The Soviet flag has been taken down from the Soviet Consular residence. There are more than 20 foreign consulates in Shanghai. The Military Control Commission is reported to have instructed all the city’s commercial and native banks to freez e deposit accounts for the time being. These institutions are said to have been requested to submit detailed accounts prevailing prior to May 28. for inspection and auditing by the Commission. The North Chinn “Daily News” said local warehouses also had been temporarily frozen for investigation of ownership of stored goods.
